Extension Install
The extension is where the workflow begins: connect the editor, run a free local Guard scan, review findings, then choose whether you need paid remediation or team-level security state.
Workflow
Step 1
Install the DryLake extension from the VS Code Marketplace or from a local VSIX build.
Step 2
Run DryLake: Connect so the browser can attach the editor to your account and workspace.
Step 3
Start with a free local Guard scan inside the editor and review the report locally.
Step 4
Save a report or approve redacted upload only when you want paid remediation and deeper analysis.
Step 5
Move into Guard for Teams later for shared reports, baselines, policy, and Continuous Watch.
VS Code Marketplace
Use the marketplace listing for the normal install flow. After installation, open VS Code and run DryLake: Connect.

Use the full Microsoft VS Code path if Cursor owns the code command on your PATH. Check with where code.

Install, connect, scan locally, review findings, and decide whether the workflow should stay local or move into paid Guard features.

Manage the account, upgrade plans, reopen saved reports, and review shared team security state once the workflow leaves the local-only boundary.
Security and infrastructure
DryLake is backed by 99VC and AWS Startups. Credentials and extension tokens are encrypted before storage, runtime secrets can use AWS Secrets Manager, and production deploys run through AWS CodeCommit and CodePipeline validation with environment isolation checks.
